Today, Canadaland revealed that Peter Mansbridge, CBC chief news anchor and Colin Mochrie stunt double makes over $800,000 a year. As Canada’s most recognizable face in news (out of the three or four), it makes sense. What is more alarming is how the CBC told the Senate in 2014 that Mansbridge only made $80,000, or ten times less than he actually does. It’s unclear whether the CBC negotiated his contract while they were still clamouring about budget cuts (circa 1936) or if they just wanted to throw money at his beautiful forehead. In any case, The True North Times has taken the liberty of imagining what tense negotiations unfolded between Mansbridge and CBC when his contract terms were set to expire. Sure, it’s only a fictional account, but we think we capture the essence of it well.
