Welcome to the newest addition to The True North Times’ weekly columns. Crazy Canadian Comments features the most outlandish comments made on popular news sites (mostly the National Post and Globe and Mail, because that’s where all the angry senior citizens are).

Last week was the perfect environment for the passive-aggressive to vent their repressed feelings of self-loathing. Then again, any week is. That’s the beauty of comment sections.

First, we have a great anecdote on a National Post article about a Muslim man in Surrey, BC who gave his shoes to a barefooted man on a bus.

The article itself is heartwarming; it renews our faith in the collective spirit of mankind. But our friend Jeff sees the real goal of the notoriously elitist, liberal National Post. “Guest”, who was most likely a user that was banned, adds to the intellectual dialogue by noting brown men and white men are differently coloured. “Jumping Jack Flas” tries to be a voice of reason, but his name does little to help his case.

How did we go from a story about a random act of kindness to…this? Trolls, people, trolls.

Next up is another article on — you guessed it — the National Post. It’s one of the 900 op-eds that are posted daily about the upcoming Ontario election (which we are covering, by the way).

LIEBERALS! SEE WHAT HE DID? It’s, heh, it’s a portmanteau of lie…and Liberal…you see? Haaaaaaa.

“Q_Impact” lays down the law, like his avatar suggests, by bringing the topic of religion into the discussion. The discussion about Ontario politics.

The argument closes with the usual ‘the NDP is a bunch of left-wing, socialist, commie, union-loving, tax-and-spending, wasteful, welfare-giving, anti-capitalist, economically illiterate, Marxist, baby-hating anarchists’. Did I mention ‘communists’? We’d bring up that hurricanes are actually caused by low barometric pressure, but the mere acknowledgement that weather events are caused by atmospheric conditions warrants praise.

Next, onto The Globe and Mail. The ongoing scuffle between the PMO and Chief Justice is a contentious one, to be sure. But let’s ignore that entirely.

“Not the Alliance” spends so much time on the Globe’s comments section that he understands the mannerisms of one specific user, and courageously calls out the multiple account holding menace. The hero, like any other, calls the virginity of the online news commenter into question. “LastPlaceLiberals” is apparently masking his shameful experience with the opposite sex through anti-liberal commenting. Top-notch analysis.

Continuing with The Globe and Mail, we have a piece talking about the ‘healthy sign’ that Rob Ford is showing by admitting his drug problem and attending rehab. It is good news for Mr. Ford, indeed. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR FORD’S CAMPAIGN, THOUGH?

Babbleon, the famed political pundit who has predicted elections such as “None” and “Rien”, has placed another well-thought bet.  Rob Ford will be back as good as new. Babbleon chose the “fat lady” phrase, just because. Also, Rob Ford is going to pick up more votes.

We end our roundup with comments from our tried-and-true source, the National Post.

There sure is an abundance of adept political pundits on news sites. THE PUBIC SECTOR. PUBLIC TROUGH. LIBERALS.

Join us next week for another batch of hate-filled, infuriating comments from Canadian news sites. Maybe someone will use the word “lieberals” again!
